Jonathan is the second eldest son of Hildegard and Wolfgang Jehle. He grew up in the Southern Black Forest and fell in love with his mother’s golden tenor saxophone at the age of six. After the sobering information that no saxophones were needed in the local music band, the young boy first took up the recorder. A year and a half later he was introduced to the clarinet. At the age of eight, Jonathan began playing the “black root.”

At the beginning of his first semester 2013 he received a scholarship from the Volksbank Hochrhein Stiftung and successfully matriculated at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen, becoming part of the class of Prof. Marco Thomas.

His love for the orchestra was known to him, but the musician quickly realized that contemporary literature and chamber music would also be very interesting for him.

Today Jonathan is a broad-based clarinetist who is not afraid to pick up a saxophone. His openness and willingness to learn brought him into contact with many clarinetists such as Prof. Matthew Hunt, Maximilian Krome, Markus Krusche, Florian Schüle and Prof. Kilian Herold.

In concerts with the ensemble “Clarinet News” he plays five instruments in flying alternation, ranging from the bass clarinet to the tenor and alto saxophones to the A and Bb clarinet. The show programs with this great troupe are always very enriching for him.

The Ensemble Resonanz (Hamburg) influenced him in his playing and communication with the orchestra. For example, he looks back on unique projects with Riccardo Minas and Emilio Pomàrico at the Cologne Philharmonie, the Konzerthaus Wien, the Laeiszhalle Hamburg and the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg.

In addition to his musical life, Jonathan found his passion for Ashtanga yoga and successfully master the first 200h yogateacher training. He loves good food especially made out of fresh and colorful vegetables well prepared tofu and umami sauces.
